Happy New Year πŸ₯³ A Few Quick Updates You Shouldn't Miss

Published about 2 months agoΒ β€’Β 3 min read

I want to give you a quick update and wish you a Happy New Year. I hope you are ready to start the new year and progressing towards reaching your goals. Make sure you get them down on paper and set yourself up for success. At this time, I'd like to talk about a few things.

I embarked on a journey that I thought I would never do again: building a website. Yes, that's right. I am building a new website, and naturally, I went back to Squarespace because, pound for pound, Squarespace is the hardest to beat. It's not the cheapest and not the most expensive, but the sites are fast and easy to build, and they keep adding features that improve the whole situation.

So why am I building a new website? I'm building a new website because I believe in creating when you don't need to.

Back in the day, when I had my website, it was primarily a blog. In this blog, I would write articles about a myriad of things: tech, things I liked, new emerging tech I was excited about, new applications, how-to guides, tutorials, and just things tech-related. Even when it came to cooking or my cooking recipes, they were geared towards a piece of tech that would come out and help you cook better. Say something like the Meter thermometer, which is a Bluetooth thermometer when you're making roast, pies, steak, or whatever that will give you the temperature of that product back to your phone via Bluetooth. So I would write an article about that because it's tech-related, but it also triggers my other hobby and creative outlet, cooking.

Over the last couple of years, especially during the pandemic, I have been creating more video and video content. That's cool, but I want to create some written content because I'm losing that muscle. It's too easy to cheat and do it with ChatGPT and other AI services. I want to write more for writing's sake, and that provides another creative outlet. Creating when you don't need to create helps you grow your creativity. When you create under pressure, you put out things that might be good, but you're always keeping your creative outlets closed. You're creating something because it has to be done. I want to return to creating for the sake of creating. Enjoying the process, the creativity, sparking that joy, and flexing that creative muscle is essential for improving at creating.

I invite you to check out the Discord sessions I am doing. They will be members-only later, but for now, I'm keeping them as an "Open House" and calling it Creator Clinic. These clinics are a way to show you how I do things from the ground up.

In the first rendition of Creator Clinic, I set up a Squarespace website, walked through the process, and explained the features and what to do. In the next one, I'm going to start building. I will build this site in public, so it's not ready yet, but if you want to catch up on Creator Clinics, make sure you are in the Discord and watching the announcements or check to see if there's an announcement.

Right now, I can't put them on a schedule because I have a couple of conferences to attend, speaking engagements, and I'm having oral surgery tomorrow. I might not be able to talk for a few days, but with all those things said, Creator Clinics will be happening in the Discord. This is also a way to provide more members-only and behind-the-scenes content for those who have supported my creative journey by becoming members of the YouTube channel and members of the DRPPSQUAD.

I wanted to wish you luck in the new year. I hope you achieve all the success you're hoping for. I am here to help if you have questions, need feedback, or want to bounce ideas. Remember, we have a vibrant Discord community you can join at docrock.live/discord. Also, I am doing more of these Creator Clinics, and I hope to see you there. I will record them and leave them in Discord if you have to catch a replay. We'll have a replay soon of the last one.

I appreciate you. Happy New Year, and let's get this done for 2024.
